2015 CAMBODIAN NEW YEAR PARADE AND CELEBRATION

2015 CAMBODIAN NEW YEAR PARADE AND CELEBRATION
IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Long Beach, CA, January 18, 2015: The Cambodian Coordinating Council (Cam-CC) will be

hosting its annual Cambodian New Year Parade on Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Cambodia

Town District, Long Beach, California. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m- 12:00 noon on

Anaheim Street at the Junipero Avenue intersection and end at MacArthur Park located between

Warren Avenue and Mahanna Avenue on Anaheim Street.

Cam-CC hosted the first Cambodian New Year parade in 2005. The intention was to provide a

free and inclusive event to the community collaborating with local leaders to unite members of

the community by showcasing floats, dancers, musicians, cultural and traditional art, etc. The

annual event is funded solely by contributions from businesses and private donors. Volunteers

assist with every aspect of the event such as publicizing, registration, fundraising, setting up,

cleaning up, etc. The event is not possible without the generosity of the community’s money,

time and effort.

In addition to the Cambodian New Year Parade, Cam-CC will also be hosting the Cambodian

New Year Celebration on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Long Beach at El Dorado Park - Area

III. That is the date of the traditional Cambodian New Year and is the year of the GOAT, 2559

BE.

One of Cam-CC’s primary objectives is to preserve the Cambodian culture and share it with

others in the community in order to foster the understanding and alleviate nuisances between

different ethnic groups.

Cam-CC is delighted to be able to share these events to celebrate the Cambodian New Year and

to honor the diversity of Long Beach. You can get involved or simply indulge in the festivities

organized by your fellow community members through passion, creativity, sacrifice, and

commitment. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors and join in on the celebration!
